Localization Study of a Non-local Energetic Damage Model

چکیده
The contribution presents an analysis of a rate-independent non-local damage model, recently proposed by Mielke and Roub́ıček (2006). An analytical as well as numerical solution of a simple one-dimensional bifurcation problem is performed, demonstrating that, for the elementary localization test, the model is free of pathological features.

A New Approach for Stress State - Dependent Flow Localization Failure Bounded Through Ductile Damage in Dynamically Loaded Sheets
In this paper, a new approach is proposed for stress state - dependent flow localization in bifurcation failure model bounded through ductile damage in dynamically loaded sheets. Onset of localized necking is considered in phenomenological way for different strain rates to draw the forming limit diagram (FLD). Using a strain metal hardening exponent in the Vertex theory related to the strain ra...
متن کاملApplication of Case I and Case II of Hill’s 1979 Yield Criterion to Predict FLD
Forming limit diagrams (FLDs) are calculated based on both the Marciniak and Kuczynski (M-K) model and the analysis proposed by Jones and Gillis (J-G). J-G analysis consisted of plastic deformation approximation by three deformation phases. These phases consisted of homogeneous deformation up to the maximum load (Phase I), deformation localization under constant load (phase II) and local necki...
متن کاملDamage Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Buildings Considering Irregularities (RESEARCH NOTE)
Structural damage can be controlled in performance based seismic design (PBSD) according to the requirement under a certain hazard level. During strong ground motion (GM) such buildings suffer minor to major damages depending on the shaking level of GM. The available damage assessment methods are complex, tedious and time-consuming procedure. In the present study, a simplified empirical model h...
متن کاملAPPLICATION OF FINITE ELEMENT MODEL UPDATING FOR DAMAGE ASSESSMENT OF SPACE STRUCTURE USING CHARGED SYSTEM SEARCH ALGORITHM
Damage assessment is one of the crucial topics in the operation of structures. Multiplicities of structural elements and joints are the main challenges about damage assessment of space structure. Vibration-based damage evaluation seems to be effective and useful for application in industrial conditions and the low-cost. A method is presented to detect and assess structural damages from changes ...
متن کاملBifurcation and creep effects in a viscoelastic non-local damageable continuum
The conditions for localization in a material described by a non-local damage-based constitutive relation coupled with a Kelvin type creep relation are derived in a closed form. The inception of a localized mode is considered as a bifurcation into Preprint submitted to Elsevier Science 15 February 2006 a harmonic mode. The criterion of bifurcation is reduced to the classical form of singularity...
